Job overview

This is a fixed term post until 01/09/2025.

We are seeking a highly motivated cardiac physiologist specialising in echocardiography to join our friendly and dynamic team providing high standards of care and support to patients in Hywel Dda University Health Board.

Our echo services deliver both transthoracic echocardiography and complex echocardiography techniques such as transoesophageal echo, Dobutamine and exercise stress echocardiography and contrast echo. Departments seek to develop the use of 3D echo, incorporating this into routine studies.

The work schedule is varied providing services to inpatients, outpatients, GP direct access and one stop cardiac clinics. The department also runs a valve surveillance clinic, hosts adult congenital heart disease clinics and supports training of our future echocardiographers and medical training grades. We also offer a comprehensive range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations including pacemaker services, exercise testing, angiography, and ambulatory monitoring.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must have BSc Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent and BSE accreditation or equivalent. They should be competent to independently perform and report echocardiograms.

This position offers the opportunity to develop as a clinical leader and understand wider processes involved in service delivery. We pride ourselves in having a supportive multidisciplinary team. We encourage open engagement in service design and delivery and seek an individual eager to share knowledge and ideas in an open and friendly forum.
