An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Assistant Practitioners to join a forward thinking team responsible for providing diagnostic assessment and time-limited support for children and young people on the autism spectrum across Hywel Dda University Health Board. 

The Neurodevelopmental Service, is a small, friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team, consisting of highly dedicated, motivated professionals sharing a common vision to improve service delivery and outcomes for autistic children, young people and their families. We are an integrated service across specialist CAMHS and work closely with our Child Health colleagues and partner agencies across the 3 counties. 

We are looking for support workers who are motivated and dynamic individuals, who can work under pressure who are interested in providing high quality, collaborative care and support to autistic children and young people with or without mild mental health and/or learning difficulties.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for individuals with a genuine interest in the field of neuro-divergence and a passion for improving the lives of neuro-divergent children and young people. 

You will have a range of transferrable skills and a desire for developing your skills and knowledge around autism and neuro-divergence. You will be able to work under pressure in order to provide high quality, collaborative care and support to autistic individuals with or without mental health and or learning difficulties. 

The assistant practitioners will work under the direction and support of registered clinicians within the service they will work on a one to one basis and group basis with individuals, virtually and face to face.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. 47 general practices (6 of which are managed practices), 45 dental practices (including 4 orthodontic), 96 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;

Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
