Job overview
Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow in General Surgery. The post is a permanent post, based at Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest. The post is full time.
The successful candidate will participate in the junior on call rota which includes night cross-cover between general surgery and T&O.
The post holder will join a friendly and dynamic surgical team in Withybush Hospital and across the wider health board. They will work as part of a multidisciplinary team throughout the hospital, providing a quality general surgery service to patients, under the supervision of senior clinical staff.
Whilst this is not a training post, there is protected teaching and training time with support from clinical educational supervisors within the department.
Main duties of the job
This post will provide support to both emergency and elective general surgery services at Withybush General Hospital. This will include supervision of all admissions to the Wards, clinical investigations, diagnosis and treatment of all patients admitted, including the maintaining of clinical notes and completion of discharge summaries. The post holder will be under the supervision of a team of speciality doctors and will be accountable to the consultant surgeons.
These duties will be located mainly at Withybush General Hospital in Haverfordwest, but service needs may require the successful applicant to work across other sites within the health board.

- Full GMC Registration and licence to practice
- Valid certified advanced life support skills
- MBBS or recognised equivalent
- Completion of F1 & F2 or equivalent
