Job overview

This is an excellent and exciting opportunity to specialise your skills into Lymphoedema as full education and training in Lymphoedema will be provided. We are looking for an experienced individual who is ready to specialise and join a proactive thinking team. We are fully supported by the National Team and Lymphoedema Wales who provide training and clinical support.

The post holder will form part of a team of Lymphoedema practitioners responsible for the delivery of lymphoedema services within Hywel Dda Health Board. This will involve working in collaboration with multi disciplinary teams (MDT) to deliver holistic care. The role involves working at various sites across Hywel Dda but predominately within Pembrokeshire.  

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for managing their own caseload which will involve providing assessment and management, education and support for patients with or potential risk of, developing lymphoedema. They will operate as an autonomous professional, with a high level of clinical and technical skill and expertise, using evidence based/ client centred principles to plan, implement and evaluate the management of clients with lymphoedema.  

The post holder will play a key role in supporting service modernisation and development. This will include involvement in research, audit and service evaluation processes. 

The post holder may be required to participate in the provision of a flexible 7 day service, based on service need.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Qualifications and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent in registered profession
  • Professional registration.
  • Significant evidence of specialist courses to postgraduate diploma level
  • Specialist knowledge or skills in lymphoedema/ chronic oedema/ wound care/oncology
  • Involvement in teaching/ presentation sessions
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Clinical Education Training Course.
  • Teaching certificate

Experience

  • Significant post registration experience in Lymphoedema/chronic oedema or Oncology/ Community
  • Managing a diverse caseload using a clinical reasoning process.
  • Inter-professional and team working.
  • Direct involvement with carers and families and demonstrating good communication skills both verbal and written during these interactions.
  • Evidence of supporting service compliance with clinical governance requirements.
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision
  • Evidence of assisting in the planning or development of an existing service.
  • Therapeutic handling and risk assessments in relation to patient care including severely disabled patients.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of student supervision.
  • Negotiation of multidisciplinary working practices.
  • Experience of teaching other disciplines
