Job overview

Hywel Dda University Health Board has an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Lead Community Physiotherapist in Neurology/Stroke. The post is based in Pembrokeshire and will fit in with the existing Senior Clinical Lead team in the county. They will take a lead in community Stroke care as well as supporting the provision of wider Neurological Physiotherapy in the community setting with a pro-active, flexible and dynamic team.

The post holder will work closely with the other Clinical Lead Physiotherapists to further develop stroke services and wider therapy services within the county and will need to be highly specialised in stroke and neuro-rehabilitation handling.  They will have the ability to train and develop their team.

The post holder will need strong leadership, organisational and team management skills.  They will have passion for their clients, the desire for service improvement and transformation following stroke guidelines. They will be aware of the evidence base for evaluation through audit, clinical effectiveness and research activity

The post holder will be required to participate in the provision of on call respiratory service.

The team works closely with inpatient and community colleagues, local MDT, patients and their families, in order to maximise patient outcomes and support discharge pathways.  If you are interested we would love to hear from you!

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an individual with great interpersonal skills to network with acute and community colleges to co-ordinate a responsive, seamless service across pathways and sectors. The post holder will have organisational ability and a commitment to service development by developing the evidence base for evaluation through audit, clinical effectiveness and research activity. As appropriate, there will be an expectation to deputise for senior management.

As a versatile postgraduate, they will need to have a strong clinical grounding in stroke rehabilitation, neurological conditions, general rehabilitation, falls and frailty syndrome, cardiorespiratory conditions, MSK problems and a good understanding of current issues affecting patient flow and community services.

The post holder will work autonomously as a highly skilled practitioner managing a clinical caseload of patients with diverse, complex health and social care needs, and alongside members of the MDT in a managerial and clinical role. 

The successful applicant will provide clinical leadership, specialist expertise and supervision to Junior Physiotherapists, Therapy Support workers, students and generic Rehabilitation Assistants. There will be a strong educational element to the role as a clinical expert.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Degree or recognised equivalent in Physiotherapy
  • Current professional registration with HCPC
  • Significant post graduate specialist education within relevant clinical area at level equivalent to Masters or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • MSc within relevant specialty
  • Post-graduate qualification up to post grad diploma level in relevant area
  • Non medical prescribing qualification
  • Clinical/ Practice Education Training Course
  • Member of professional body/Specialist Interest Group
  • Evidence of leadership courses / qualifications

Experience

  • Significant post-graduate experience; including relevant experience in specialist field
