Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Frailty Support Worker based at Ward 3, Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli.  This is an elderly care ward with 22 beds specialising in dementia care and frailty. 

The post will include working over 7 days a week, with no night duty.

Main duties of the job

The post offers the opportunity to develop your skills and experience in caring for elderly care patients with frailty needs. The aim of the role would be to improve the patient experience. You would be expected to promote the patients' independence by focusing on their mobility, nutrition and hydration, in order to maintain and maximise their functional ability and to support in daily interactive activities. 

The post holder should hold an NVQ level 3 in Health or equivalent. They will need to demonstrate that they have good communication skills and that they are an excellent team player as well as being able to work alone. They will be expected to work alongside both the nursing and the therapies team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Numeracy and literacy to at least GCSE level or equivalent
  • NVQ/Diploma at level 3 in Health or relevant qualification
  • Record of professional development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent clinical experience of working within a relevant healthcare or social care environment
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Willingness to attend to further training

  • Recognise the importance of the fundamentals of care
