An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a full-time (37.5 hours) band 5 Registered Nurse to work within the ambulatory clinics based at South Pembrokeshire Hospital. The post holder will be required to work within Leg ulcer, catheter/TWOC, and ear microsuction clinics as well as our integrated health plans.
We are looking for an experienced registered nurse who is passionate about making a difference to patients’ lives and has a keen interest in leg ulcer management and prevention, catheter care and supporting people to self-care and be proactive in managing their own health. You will share the team’s passion and ethos for improving and enhancing care for patients through proactive, compassionate care, education, service improvement initiatives, research, and audit.

Base: South Pembrokeshire Hospital, Pembroke Dock.
This is a full-time post however part time will be considered.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job include:-
Clinical responsibilities may include (but are not limited to)
Wound management (including doppler ultrasound)
Continence management/catheterisation (including bladder scan and trial without catheter), Venepuncture & Ear Micro-Suctioning
These procedures require accuracy, concentration, and mental acuity.
Perform comprehensive assessments of patient nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing health care needs.
The post holder may be required to deliver care using clinical equipment such as Doppler ultrasound scanner, Micro-Suctioning equipment, ECG, bladder scanner, urinary catheter.
Responsible for the maintenance of a clean and safe environment adhering to infection control policies procedures and best practice.
Assist and maintain a safe and hazard free area of work.
Involve clients/service users and carers / relatives in the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of care.
Perform nursing procedures within the criteria of Patient Group Directions for example administering Influenza vaccination, tetanus, Entonox.
Provide health promotion and health education for individuals.
Participate in and contribute to patient and public involvement activities.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Level 1 Registered Nurse (Adult)
- Current NMC Registration
- Evidence of personal continuing development, statutory and mandatory training
- Awareness of Health Board policies, procedures and guidelines
- Ability to relate theory to practice
- Understanding of community health care working
Desirable criteria
- Post registration experience in community/acute services
- Teaching and assessing
- Understanding of clinical governance, health & safety, risk management awareness
- Community experience
- Willing to undertake further training as necessary
- Evidence of post registration education – Diploma / Degree Level
Experience
Essential criteria
- Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code (2018)
- Able to relate theory to practice through reflective skills
Desirable criteria
- Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of community and primary health care practice
- Relevant community experience
