We are looking to appoint a part time position and seek an enthusiastic and motivated booking clerk to support our Inpatient Booking Team .

You will need to be computer literate, flexible and willing to learn new skills. You will be working within a multi-disciplinary team and must have a positive and proactive approach to work. You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills as you will be dealing with staff and patients by phone, email and face to face. Knowledge of medical terminology, administration and organisational experience is essential.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the Inpatient Booking Team to plan, book and schedule planned procedures  ensuring that both Government and Trust targets are met.  

Working with the  Manager to ensure that all  capacity is utilised efficiently and effectively.

Dealing with all administrative enquiries including face to face, incoming calls and emails and assisting patients and staff with booking/re-booking appointments.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE’s grade C (4) or equivalent, must include English
  • Working towards NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous office administration experience

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of hospital patient administration systems or other computer based systems for making appointments
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Excel packages
  • Knowledge of office procedures
  • Sound understanding of confidentiality and Data Protection Act 1998
  • Awareness of current NHS policies, priorities and targets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to deal with sensitive issues
  • Customer care
  • Keyboard skills
