Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 5 Nurses to join our Neonatal team in our friendly, level 1 unit at East Cheshire NHS Trust. We are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated Nurses with excellent clinical skills and enthusiasm for Neonatal care to join our friendly and supportive team. We strive to provide the highest quality care for the babies and families of East Cheshire, with a focus on Family Integrated Care (FIC). 

As a Band 5 on our Special Care Baby Unit, you will have the opportunity to attend the FiN/Foundation in Neonates programme (formerly known as NIP/Neonatal Induction Programme) and also the QIS/Quality in Speciality course which will offer the opportunity to progress to a band 6.

Full time and part time hours available permanently.

22.87 hours per week for a fixed term post ending March 2026.

Main duties of the job

If you are an enthusiastic and motivated Nurse and are looking for a permanent post on a Neonatal Unit that provides individualised, high quality , holistic care, with an emphasis on working in partnership with neonates and their families, then this is the job for you.

The successful candidate will be a Nurse and preferably have neonatal experience, knowledge of family integrated care and the baby friendly initiative.

The Neonatal Unit at Macclesfield has 8 cots which delivers special/high dependency care and short term intensive care for sick and preterm newborns over 32 weeks gestation.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a band 6 shift leader and participate in shifts over a 24hr rota. Bank positions will also be considered.

Essential qualifications: Registered Nurse.

Desirable Qualifications: North West Neonatal Induction program, Neonatal QIS (Qualification in Speciality) or equivalent, Mentorship in Clinical practice NM6064 or equivalent.
