**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust.** 

An outstanding opportunity for a support secretary has arisen within the Department of General Surgery.

This post is Fixed Term for 12 Months

Hours per week: 32 hours

Main duties of the job

To provide an efficient and effective typing and administration function to the team. The post requires fast and accurate audio typing skills, and a sound knowledge of  medical terminology. 

Good communication, organisational skills, and previous secretarial experience is essential as is experience of dealing with sensitive information.  Knowledge of medical terminology and previous experience using hospital based IT systems such as PAS and Medisec will be advantageous.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent, grade C or above. Must include English.
  • Typing qualifications to RSAII (Royal Society of Arts) standard.
  • Computer literate to (European Computer Driving License) ECDL standard or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • AMSPAR (The Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Managers, Administrators and Receptionists) Diploma
  • RSA III (Royal Society of Arts) standard

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Secretarial experience
Desirable criteria
  • Hospital based experience

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Medical terminology
  • Fast and accurate audio-typing
  • Good communicator – able to deal with people at all levels.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information without compromising confidentiality or trust.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Medisec
  • Experience with Patient Management System
