Job overview
This is a Senior Eating Disorder Practitioner role in the new Type 1 Diabetes & Disordered Eating (T1DE) Service. Based on very positive research & outcomes from pilot schemes in London & Wessex, this service aims to provide comprehensive & compassionate care for a complex & often under-served patient group.
We are looking for a dynamic individual, who possesses a passion for service development & the provision of high quality clinical care. The team aims to:
- Provide education & raise awareness of disordered eating
- Ensure that access to appropriate psychological support is available for people
- Provide professional support & advice to primary care & specialist diabetes services caring for people with type 1 diabetes & disordered eating
- Assess & treat people most severely affected by type 1 diabetes % disordered eating who have the highest risk of a poor outcome (e.g. recurrent DKA, recurrent severe hypoglycaemia or persistent HbA1c >86 mmol/mol) via a specialist MDT clinic
- Support inpatient teams (both mental health & medical beds) caring for patients with T1DE
This post has lots of variety with a strong focus on research, service development, clinical delivery as well as the team manager aspect of the role.

Main duties of the job
· You will be a key member of staff in the Type one Diabetes and Eating Disorders Service which covers the whole of Cheshire and Merseyside area
· As a senior member of the team, the post holder will provide and ensure the systematic provision of a highly specialised psychological service to people with eating disorders
· The post holder will supervise and support the assessment and treatment provided by eating disorder practitioners and other clinical members of the Eating Disorder Team
· The post holder will be expected to work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the Service
Working for our organisation
**We offer a relocation package of up to £8,000**
The relocation package is for anyone who is joining CWP in a clinical role at Band 5 or above, who would need to relocate in order to take up employment with Cheshire and Wirral Partnership.
To be eligible for the relocation payment, you must live more than 40 miles from the base/location of the post you are applying for and you would need to relocate to within 15 miles of the new base.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registration (with NMC,HPC) or Accreditation with BACP or equivalent body
- Professional training to degree level or its equivalent e.g. RMN, OT, Dip SW
- Relevant Post Graduate Qualification, such as Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy, Cognitive Analytical Therapy or an equivalent modality
Knowledge & Expertise
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of NICE Guidelines and other guidance /policy documents influencing Eating Disorder Service Delivery
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management
- Skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing clinically sensitive information to service users, their families, carers and other professionals with and outside the NHS
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to foster good interteam/ interagency working relationships
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in Mental Health post qualification /accreditation
- Ability to carry and maintain own caseload
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment
- Experience with difficult to engage service users with complex needs requiring skilled interventions and care
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with people with Eating Disorders
