Job overview

CONSULTANT WITH AN INTEREST IN COMPLEX DEVICE IMPLANTATION

THE JAMES COOK UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, MIDDLESBROUGH

South Tees NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a Consultant cardiologist with an interest in complex device implantation to join our existing team of 19 consultants. This is an exciting opportunity to support the cardiac rhythm management and complex device implantation team in a tertiary cardiac centre serving Teesside, Durham and parts of Cumbria and North Yorkshire.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking cardiologist to join us and continue the development of the service. You will join a friendly, dedicated team to provide bradycardia, cardiac resynchronisation, defibrillator implantation and general cardiology care. The department has a national reputation for consistently providing high quality care, offering a comprehensive tertiary service. In addition to established pathways of care we have an extensive leadless device programme as well as sub cutaneous device implants. University Hospitals Tees is home to an active research team. The successful applicant will work closely with consultant cardiologists and consultant cardiothoracic surgeons on The James Cook University Hospital site and with consultant cardiologists from referring hospitals. There will also be increasing opportunities for cross site working with the development of the University Hospitals Tees group model.

Working for our organisation

The Tees Valley boasts vibrant towns, picturesque villages, breath-taking countryside and stunning coastlines and has the North York Moors National Park on its doorstep. Excellent travel links mean London and Edinburgh are both just a couple of hours away by train.
Applicants should possess full GMC registration, MRCP or equivalent, and either already be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of receiving their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview.  Evidence of sub-specialty training and significant experience in complex device implantation is essential.
This a whole time post (10 PA basis), however, candidates who are unable to work full time will be eligible to apply with the option of discussing modification of job content on appointment.
