Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic nurses to join our team on Ward 29 & Cardio Monitored Bay

We are a 36 bedded acute cardiology ward at James Cook University Hospital. Ward 29 has 2 areas, 27 beds on the main cardiology ward and a 9 bedded Cardio monitored Bay, staff will be expected to rotate between the two areas.

Collaboratively utilising our skills and competencies symbiotically for patient benefit, assuming complementary roles sharing responsibility for problem-solving and making decisions to formulate and carry out plans for patient care.

Main duties of the job

  • The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will deliver quality care at all times
  • The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will be aware of cost improvement and stock rotation issues within the department
  • The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will recognise signs of change in the patients condition and act according to extent of role
  • The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will be accountable for their own learning and training
  • The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will be required input the staff roster
  • The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will be required to  complete audits
  • Health and Safety guidelines must be followed at all times
  • The band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse will be aware of their limitations in practice
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time

Ability to work under pressure and cope with potentially distressing/emotionally demanding situations.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma in Nursing or healthcare degree
  • Academic: Diploma in Nursing or healthcare degree Professional: Current NMC Registration

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Essential criteria
  • Experience working within Cardiovascular services.
  • Competency in12-lead ECG and cardiac rhythm analysis.
  • Sound knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, tests and interventions.

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Cardiology nursing
Desirable criteria
  • Acute Cardiology nursing
