South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity to undertake a special interest fellowship alongside Critical Care Medicine. We can offer fellowships in POCUS, Medical Education, Quality Improvement, Research or a combination of these (see further details below). As a large tertiary training and research centre, we are able to offer a wealth of opportunities. We anticipate tailoring your fellowship to your requirements.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide day and out-of-hours service on the middle-grade rota with the support of the other middle grades and critical care team. The quality of training you will receive during on-call and day shifts is renowned. The clinical time will provide additional opportunities to see and practice the application of your special interest to the acute management of critically ill patients.
The post begins in February 2025. It would suit candidates who have completed their core training and wish to build their CV and experience in readiness for a career in ICM or the acute specialties. We have an excellent legacy of supporting our trust grades into training posts. We can support you to meet whatever training needs you have.
Out of Programme trainees, post-CCT applicants and other appropriately experienced candidates will be considered.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT SKILLS AS TAUGHT ON ALS OR ACLS COURSES
Desirable criteria
- FIRST PART OF A POSTGRADUATE QUALIFICATION EG FRCA, MRCP, MRCS
- COMPLETION OF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING COURSES: ALERT, ATLS, APLS, CCrISP, IMPACT, CCrIMP
Experience
Essential criteria
- MINIMUM 24 MONTHS EXPERIENCE OF HOSPITAL MEDICINE AFTER QUALIFICATION
- EXPERIENCE OF WORKING IN THE NHS
Desirable criteria
- 6 MONTHS EXPERIENCE OF ACUTE GENERAL MEDICINE INCLUDING UNSELECTED EMERGENCY ADMISSIONS
