Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Trauma and Orthopaedic team at James Cook University Hospital. 

Providing advanced clinical and professional Physiotherapy to patients on the Trauma and Orthopaedic wards as well as  provide support to the Physiotherapy Team Lead ensuring that the Trauma and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team contributes to the Strategic Plan for South Tees NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to have experience and knowledge of the physiotherapy management of trauma and orthopaedic patients.

To undertake advanced physiotherapy assessments of patients with complex and multifactorial conditions and deliver individualised treatment plans. Relevant post graduate study, leadership training and experience is also desirable.

This post will offer development of clinical skills and the post holder will be supported to attend relevant post graduate courses. We have an established and comprehensive training programme and our staff are supported through workshops, clinical supervision and the appraisal process.  There is also an expectation to actively participate in audit and research and the hospital has close links with both the University of Teesside and Durham University.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • BSc or Diploma in appropriate profession
  • HCPC registered
  • • Achieved or willing to work towards relevant Post-graduate qualification/training

Knowledge and skills

Essential criteria
  • • Theoretical knowledge and applied clinical practice in a broad range of orthopaedic areas.
  • • Good understanding of the structure, policies, priorities and format of the NHS
  • • Knowledge of relevant national guidelines and standards
  • • Experience of in-patient and outpatient orthopaedic rehabilitation

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Experience of working with patients with orthopaedic conditions
  • • Experience working within the NHS
Desirable criteria
  • • Experience of working in acute orthopaedic rehabilitation setting
  • • Can demonstrate relevant/varied post-graduate experience across a variety of clinical areas

  • • Ability to work under their own initiative
  • • Ability to respond to unpredictable work patterns on a frequent basis e.g. weekend working, working to deadlines, interruptions
