The post holder will develop clinical excellence, leadership, innovation and facilitated learning; having responsibility for supporting the speciality service within their area of expertise.

They will provide effective, caring and compassionate services to patients and abide by the NHS values, the constitution and the 6Cs.  They will be expected to liaise with professionals’ along their patient’s pathway to ensure quality service provision for all patients under their care.

 The post holder will provide support, specialist information and advice to patients, carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team on all aspects of their area of expertise. They will provide assistance, support and health promotion advice to other staff, whilst improving clinical practice, enhancing service provision and streamlining patient focused care. The post holder will be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and network with other professionals, locally and regionally for the purpose of developing practice and audit.

Main duties of the job

Working across all clinics in the department

Non medical prescribing or working towards

Venous access or prepared to partake in training to insert Midlines

 There is an expectation the post holder will also support the Senior Sister in management of the department, enabling he delivery of safe, high quality, evidence based nursing care to patients whilst respecting and involving families and carers as partners in care; being responsible for day to day departmental issues and deputising at meetings in the absence of the Senior Sister.

 The post holder will promote the positive image of the clinical area and the Trust by being a role model using direct clinical leadership to ensure an excellent patient experience and a department that promotes both clinical and operational excellence.

  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing plus specialist experience/training
  • Up to date BLS and mandatory training

  • Relevant teaching qualification
