Job overview

To support the CT team in an assistant role as an active member of the multidisciplinary team. Demonstrating a range of skills to meet the needs of the patient in a safe, caring environment that promotes dignity, privacy and respect under appropriate supervision of radiology assistant team leader or registered healthcare practitioner.

This post is funded from the collaborative initiative of the Community Diagnostic Hub program by NHS England. Although the successful candidate will be employed by South Tees Hospital Foundation Trust (STHFT), there may be an expectation of collaborative working across the Tees Valley should the need be required, however this role is primarily for STHFT CT services, and the successful candidate will join the CT assistant rota for STHFT. Successful candidates will be an employee of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and managed as per the governance arrangements currently in place for Radiology and the organisation.

Main duties of the job

To assist with smooth running of CT workflow by providing a patient-centred service within the radiology department by escorting, preparing and observing patients both pre and post procedure.

The post holder will be expected to develop knowledge and skills within the speciality and will assist in the management and delivery of compassionate, high quality patient care. The post holder will ensure that lists run effectively under the instruction of the Radiographers.

The post holder will work with Radiographers, radiology assistants, healthcare professionals and support the training of student radiographers and volunteers.

Demonstrates the Trust Values and Behaviours and the Trust Code of Conduct and the nursing and midwifery 6C’s at all times acting in the best interests of patients and treating everyone with dignity and respect.

The post holder has a duty of care to patients and is expected to comply fully with all Trust policies in particular policies relating to personal and patient safety and the prevention of healthcare associated infections.  As a Trust employee you will honour your work commitments, be reliable, trustworthy and uphold values and beliefs of the Trust.
