We are seeking a highly motivated, committed and passionate Paediatric Nurse to work alongside our existing Specialist Nurse to co-ordinate the Paediatric Spine Service at The James Cook University Hospital. The successful candidate will provide care and support for young people and their families from diagnosis, through treatment and discharge.
The service is continuously developing and improving and the post holder will be expected to play an active part in this, working dynamically and enthusiastically. The post holder will be a central point of contact and liaise with a wide multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless pathway of care for all.
You will have significant post-registration experience in paediatric surgery, knowledge of paediatric spinal conditions and treatments and the ability to work independently and as well as within a multidisciplinary team.

As a specialist nurse for paediatric spine you will work with the current specialist nurse to coordinate the service and provide excellent, seamless care for all children, young people and families referred. You will be part of a well-established multidisciplinary team (MDT), with a passion for service development and positive patient and family experiences.

· Support the Multidisciplinary paediatric spine team to deliver effective care.
· Support, educate and advise patients, carers and families, keeping them informed at all times.
- Liaise with members of the wider health, social and education teams to provide a coordinated package of care, specialist advice and training, and attending meetings as required. Complete Education Health Care Plans
- Participate in safeguarding interventions. Arrange supervision with the safeguarding team as required.
Liaise with ward link nurses and encourage their participation in knowledge dissemination.
Attend local, regional and national meetings.
- Coordinate the paediatric spine service MDT to enable delivery of highly specialised care.
- Support children, young people and their families who are monitored and treated for their spinal conditions.
- Educate and advise patients, families, carers, multidisciplinary team members both within the Trust and externally.
- Participate in research, service evaluations and audits.

- Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role
After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.

Qualifications

- RGN/RSCN or RN (Child)
- BSc (Hons) in Children’s Nursing
- Teaching / assessing qualification.
- Must be willing to work towards a relevant Master’s degree including non-medical prescribing.
