Spinal Cord Injuries Database Co-ordinator

 

AFC Band 3   22 hrs per week

The Spinal Cord Injuries Co-ordinator will be responsible for ensuring completion of the National Spinal Cord Database (NSCID).

 The post holder will work closely with the multi-disciplinary clinical team and spinal cord injury patients to collect process, clinical and outcome data, and inputting this accurately into the database. This will involve interrogation of electronic and paper health care records and close working with a range of health care professionals on a daily basis including Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Consultants and medical staff in order to ensure and assist in the completion of clinical assessments at specific points throughout the patient pathway. The post holder will also support patients to complete data collection forms when they attend outpatient clinics.

The successful candidate will have a sound general education, excellent communication skills and computer skills, evidence of time management skills and possess the ability to work with a wide range of patients and professionals. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use own initiative to plan and prioritise a changing workload to complete data entry to a high standard, and to further develop in this interesting new role.  Experience of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, Access, Powerpoint and Outlook is essential.

Knowledge and Skills

  • • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including use of databases / spreadsheets etc.
  • • Good knowledge of clinical governance, including clinical effectiveness and Evidence Based Practice.
  • • Knowledge of Caldicott Principles and the Data Protection Act.
  • • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • • Ability to manage own workload to ensure agreed deadlines are achieved.

Qualifications and Training

  • • Good general education with at least 5 GCSE grades A* - C or equivalent to include Mathematics and English language. Band 3 And Above Attendance at foundation improvement training and the new and aspiring leaders program within first year of role
