We are looking to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Respiratory Medicine. This post would be offered to a candidate wanting to pursue a career in Respiratory medicine. This post will be based at The James Cook University Hospital site. There are ample opportunities to get training and to do clinical research to develop your CV for the next round of applications.
Main duties of the job
The clinical fellow would be supported with their carrier progression. There will be supported to develop the practical skills including basic and advanced bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, interventional bronchoscopy, pleural procedures. Their job role will include inpatient and outpatient commitments, and supporting the consultant clinics. There is a weakly lung cancer multidisciplinary team meeting, and a thoracic surgical MDT. There is plentiful opportunity to progress and we would welcome our clinical fellows to progress over time and join our department as a specialty doctor.
Working for our organisation
The post holder would have some responsibility for the CMT/FY2/FY1 doctors and would report to the consultant of the week in the respiratory ward, participate in the acute medical oncall and would be given a structured weekly rota which puts emphasis on the training needs of the posts with attendance in bronchoscopy and outpatient clinics. There will be a protected time during the week for doing audits/clinical research.

Basic Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration
- MBBS or equivalent
Experience/Higher Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Minimum 2 years General Professional training in approved medical posts
Desirable criteria
- MRCP (UK). For non UK graduates without MRCP written evidence of appropriate training and experience
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria
- Commensurate with that of any aspiring SpR
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
