The Orthopaedic Directorate is recognised within the region as a tertiary referral centre, undertaking a full range of highly complex orthopaedic surgery.

Main duties of the job

We take great pride in our staff and we believe that investing in ‘You’ is key in our ability and capacity to deliver high quality service and patient care. We will support you in developing your orthopaedic knowledge and skills through our team of supportive staff and formal education programme, aiming towards completion of a Complex Arthroplasty Competency pack. You will work alongside Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Experience within Orthopaedics is not essential; however applicants must have a genuine interest in the speciality and be committed to delivering high quality patient care.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated people with effective communication skills. You will be required to have an understanding of vital observations, blood glucose monitoring and wound management. Ideally, you will be competent in venepuncture and cannulation, however training can be provided for this. You will be caring for patients with a wide range of mobility needs and will need to be competent and compliant with manual handling procedures and safe use of manual mobility aids.
