Clinical Coding Team Leader

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Coding Department for a Band 5 Clinical Coding Team Leaders.   To be based primarily at the Friarage in Northallerton.  Must be able to travel to both sites if ever required.

We are looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic individual for the above position.  The post holder will form part of the clinical coding department managerial structure.   As part of the coding management team, you must have the ability to lead with a positive attitude in order to motivate others.  Excellent communication skills are a vital part of the job and experience communicating confidently with a range of NHS staff is vital.  The post holder must remain calm and patient under pressure, and possess exceptional organisational skills.   

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The role will be split with operational duties, and coding responsibilities. 
Operationally the post holders will be responsible for collaboratively supporting the assistant coding manager and  clinical coding managers in the daily management of the team.  This will include but will not be limited to: recruitment, appraisals, continuing professional developments, disciplinary actions and monitoring of internal and external KPI's.  
The post holders will act as mentors and support new staff with their training.  They should act as a leader to all staff and lead by example, endeavouring to be a good role model.
Coding responsibilities will form a large proportion of duties, on top of the operation responsibilities, the successful applicants will be required to monitor and complete their own coding workload.

  • Proven extensive knowledge of Clinical and Medical Terminology

  • Attendance on Leadership courses

Experience

  • Experience of engaging with a variety of staff at all levels including clinicians and directors
  • Substantial experience of working in a clinical coding role

  • Mentoring/training experience

Personal Atributes

  • Good keyboard use and confidence with inputting data into patient admin system and other key corporate systems eg, PACS, WebICE systems

  • Demonstrable ability to lead and manage services, displaying initiative and innovative approach where necessary
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills together with the drive to work with others to implement changes despite potential resistance
