Applications are invited for the post of Substantive Respiratory Consultant and General Physician in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, North Wales.
This substantive consultant position will be based in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. North Wales is a spectacular place to live and offers a wide variety of outdoor activities, attractions and excellent restaurants. We are surrounded by stunning scenery to explore from the rolling hills and rugged mountains of Snowdonia National Park to the long sandy beaches of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula. Chester is less than an hour away and the cities of Liverpool and Manchester are just over an hour making this location a perfect place to live. There is affordable quality housing as well as excellent independent and state schools and great local amenities.
Strong links exist with the other acute hospitals in the Health Board and with tertiary centres in the North West of England. The department participates in multidisciplinary team meetings with these other sites. Strong links are also in existence with the University of Wales, Bangor giving candidates an opportunity to explore their research or teaching interests.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a team of three existing substantive consultants. This is a ten PA position with inpatient and outpatient commitments and a contribution to the general medical on-call rota. There will be an opportunity to develop a sub-specialty interest and contribute to the general respiratory workload of the department. The post is based on 10 PAs with an option to pick up extra sessions. A rotation between the four full time consultants is proposed with the consultants rotating between the Respiratory ward, the Outlier ward and Inpatient referrals. Inpatient commitments require cross cover when consultants are on leave. During the off ward months ‘ward round’ PAs are substituted for sessions to see referrals
