Job overview
Applications are invited for a locum post of Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to cover maternity leave on a part-time basis for a period of 12 months to assist in providing comprehensive child and adolescent mental health services across the rural and urban area of Gwynedd and Anglesey.
The successful candidate will join Gwynedd and Anglesey CAMHS which currently comprises a team of Consultant Psychiatrists in addition to Psychologists, Nurses, Therapists and Support Workers. Across North Wales there are 15 Consultant Psychiatrists who support the delivery of CAMHS across the region.
The contract is a standard fixed term part-time 6 PA contract with 4.2 clinical and 1.8 SPA sessions.
The post also involves teaching and supervision of speciality doctors and the wider multi-disciplinary team, which is shared amongst senior medical staff. Involvement in clinical governance, committee work, and management roles is expected. Study leave, and attendance at the regular departmental meetings will be part of your job plan.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to assist in providing comprehensive child and adolescent mental health services to complement the expertise of other Community Consultants and their teams. There will be opportunities to develop services for children with complex mental health conditions including eating disorders, psychosis, neuro-developmental disorders and self harm. There is flexibility to develop specific areas of interest and the aim is to develop a service that provides 7 days a week care to children, young people and their families.
