Experience

Advanced specialist skills and experience in Bacteriology and or Virology
A minimum of 5 years post registration plus sufficient additional experience at a senior grade to be able to manage a laboratory
Detailed knowledge of Health & safety, including infectious diseases and dangerous chemicals and gases.
Knowledge of laboratory computer systems and patient record and result keeping
Experience in educating, training and organising staff of all grades, including staff from outside agencies
Writing skills for preparing protocols to a very high standard
Good understanding of UKAS accreditation, HSE Compliance and quality management systems

Advanced specialist knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of Microbiology
