An opportunity has arisen for an experienced HCA to join The Emergency Surgical (ESU) Unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. The applicant must have excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn and undertake new skills. 

If you are looking for an exciting challenge and want to be part of a great innovative team , then why not join ESU. We have 14 beds and trolley bay for 6 specialising in  emergency surgery. 

We are seeking applications who have the ability and determination to learn and to gain new skills /competencies and who are motivated to develop the highest standards of care and  committed to continuous improvement and development. We have Practice educators in place to provide support and guidance to all our staff  for training and development.

This is a full-time post  for 37.5  hrs per week  and does include nights, weekends and bank holidays. 

You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work at Band 2 level to increase to band 3 competency, and recent acute hospital experience would be advantageous.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

To contribute to the optimum delivery of care for all patients by assisting all healthcare and clinical staff to meet the needs for this group of patients.

To ensure that privacy and dignity is respected at all times.

To have a good understanding of the complex needs of this group of patients.

To assist the team in providing an excellent service at all times by ensuring a good knowledge of the patient and service requirements.

To perform necessary tests for our patients, to include, ECG, bloods, and any other relevant clinical skill.

To establish a rapport with the patient and relatives and an awareness of the individual patient needs, ensuring these are communicated to the Registered nurse.

To have full understanding of the impact of the patient’s condition on their hygiene, nutritional and mobility abilities and needs.

To assist patients, where necessary by the use of appropriate aids/appliance, to achieve physical comfort. This will involve the safe moving and handling of patients to varying degrees dependant on their condition and care needs.
