Healthcare Assistant (Paediatrics)

We are looking for enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants to join our team. You will need to demonstrate evidence of a previous caring role with children or babies.
You will work in a busy paediatric outpatient clinic setting, ensuring that clinics run efficiently and effectively by getting children and young people ready for their appointments. You will build good working relationships with the MDT, as well as children, young people and their families; and rise to the challenge of working within a diverse and ever-changing environment.

To work as a skilled member of the ward nursing team, providing a high standard of holistic, family centred care to children / young people and families.
To communicate effectively at all levels with the multi-disciplinary team.
To manage and maintain a child-focused environment where play occurs naturally.
To use theoretical knowledge and evidence based practice to assess, plan,
implement and evaluate therapeutic play interventions.
To document care interventions and outcomes in patient notes.
To develop skills and knowledge and be responsible for own practice.
To promote an awareness of the emotional needs of children in hospital and the importance of play, within the multi-disciplinary team.

- NVQ Level II in Health Care or equivalent. Working towards NVQ level III

- Evidence of additional training e.g. Paediatric Observation, Venepuncture, cannulation, ECG
- NVQ Level III in Health Care
Experience

- Broad range of experience of working with children / young people in a child care / play / youth in addition working in hospital or community health setting
- Experience of working with children / young people with additional needs, including those with challenging behaviours
- Experience of working with families / carers, as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

- Experience of working with children/ young people mental health issues
Skills

- Word processing and internet skills.

- Previous experience of using Maxims, EObs and CORE IT systems
