This Phlebotomist role provides 7 day cover 8am-4pm for the General Surgical wards of ESU, Pendennis and St Mawes. The role also requires you to assist in the Hot Clinic when necessary. The main duties are to collect blood samples through venepuncture and cannulate patients when required.
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited for the post of Phlebotomist to work within the General Surgery and Cancer Care Group at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust.
This is an exciting role within our care group. We have a vacancy for a suitable person(s) to join our team. Your role will be to obtain blood samples from patients within our acute admissions area and surgical wards for medical testing and transfusion through venepuncture. You will build trust and minimize patient discomfort during phlebotomy procedures while efficiently collecting blood specimens. Work collaboratively with patients, healthcare providers and patient support departments to ensure a high quality of service.

This is a part time (22.5 hours per week, 3 x 7.5 hour shifts) permanent role.

Essential criteria
- CSE/GCSE at grade C or above or equivalent in 4 subjects including Maths, Science and English
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous phlebotomy experience or NHS experience in Nursing or caring situation
Desirable criteria
- Previous team work preferably in a hospital or caring situation
Skills
Essential criteria
- Basic knowledge of computers.
