Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Surgery and Critical Care Practice Educator team.

We are looking for a keen, self motivated individual willing to undergo and deliver training to all colleagues within the Care Group.

Main duties of the job

Duties include but are not limited to: 

To provide a support service, working effectively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired outcomes that promote the Safety and wellbeing of patients.
Responsible for updating the Trust TMS computerised database ensuring information is current and accurate.
Facilitate and Support the Care Group staff with their Core Skills and Essential Skills and participates in other training of staff within the Care Group

Deliver and evaluate programmes of education and training to multi-professional staff across UHMBT.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. 

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. 

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. 

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL or Equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent experience of working in a clinical environment
  • Experience of TMS2 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Aware of the NHS structure and current issues

Skills and Ability

Essential criteria
  • Working towards or completed Care Certificate
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • IT skills – basic level
  • Understand confidentiality

Personal Qualities

Essential criteria
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, innovative and flexible
  • Ability/willingness to travel as required
