Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an administrative and clerical assistant to join us .

As the successful candidate you will participate in the management and organisation of the maternity Electronic Patient Records (EPR) referral process for the booking of appointments for new  pregnancies and transfer of care

 The Successful applicant is required to work with minimal supervision and coordinate activities to ensure that an efficient service is provided to service users.

You will have a welcoming and professional approach to all members of 
the public and staff attending the department, and the ability to deal with sensitive, confidential information and queries regarding service users in a sympathetic and reassuring manner.

 

Main duties of the job

As part of this role you will be required to:

  • Provide comprehensive clerical support to clinical services
  • Book service users into into clinics/making appointments
  • To receive telephone calls regarding the referral process and assist patients access and complete the process.
  • To Contact service users who do not have access to the internet and complete the referral form with them.
  • To ensure the patients have access to initial pregnancy appointments at the appropriate time and place and with the appropriate midwife.
  •  To input data to computerised systems, as required.
  •  Provide clerical support to the Community Midwifery team as required.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Have a demonstrable understanding of general office equipment i.e. computer, fax
  • Knowledge of clerical / admin systems and processes
  • Recent knowledge of Microsoft 365
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience within healthcare setting
  • Clerical experience within similar organisation

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Good general education
  • Previous admin experience

  • ECDL or equivalent
  • RSA 1 & 2 or equivalent
