An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the physiotherapy team at the Cumberland Infirmary. The post is a static band 6 stroke/ neuro-rehabilitation specialist physiotherapist role to cover maternity leave. The post holder will act as deputy for the team lead in the management and development of physiotherapy services on the Hyper-acute, acute stroke and neuro-rehabilitation units.

The post holder will be integral to the day to day management of physiotherapy on the acute stroke and neuro-rehabilitation units alongside the team lead. The role will include the development, management, training and supervision of physiotherapy staff and students as well as working closely within the MDT.
The clinical work will include managing a complex caseload undertaking assessment, diagnosis and treatment and providing appropriate advice to patients, carers and relatives regarding stroke, neuro-rehabilitation.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:
Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Qualifications

- Degree in physiotherapy or equivalent. HCPC registration.
- Evidence of post registration education and training in stroke/neurological rehabilitation

- Clinical supervision / mentoring certificate or equivalent.
Experience

- Recent experience of working within acute stroke/neurology and rehabilitation
- Sound respiratory assessments and treatments
- Working within a MDT
- Deputising for Physiotherapy Team Leader in day to day management.
- Evidence of service development through clinical audit, use of outcome measures etc.
- Experience of implementing change
- Supervising and giving feedback to others e.g. students, newly qualified staff or technical instructors.
- Experience of prioritisation and management of competing demands, appropriately delegating work.
- Working independently on call.
