Come and Join our amazing team in ED at RLI!

An opportunity has arisen for additional Clinical Support Workers to join the Emergency Department Team at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and motivated individuals ideally with acute care experience but this is not essential as training and support will be provided.

We have developed and grown so much over the last few years we have introduced streaming and rapid assessment at the front door for a better patient experienced and journey which you will be involved it. 

We also cover the Minor Injury treatment which is open 8am - 8pm - we cover that also. 

A shift system is in operation.

Main duties of the job

Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), providing nursing care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the Registered Nurse.

Record patient information.

Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good general education
  • Willingness to undertake NVQ level 2 in care related area
  • Basic literacy & numeracy skills

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Manual handling of patients, using lifting aids
Desirable criteria
  • Previous care experience

Skills, ability and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to work as part of a team
Desirable criteria
  • Previous clinical skills experience - Observations, ECG, Bloods and venepuncture
