Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team in the North Lancashire Community. The integrated children's community nursing and therapy team is made up of CCN team, CDC, children's hearing service, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy. 

You will work as part of this wider team and will be responsible for provision of specialised assessment, treatment and management of babies, children and adolescents who present with a wide variety of conditions. These include chronic, complex, disabling and life limiting conditions.

 

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for provision of specialised assessment, treatment and management of babies, children and adolescents who present with a wide variety of conditions. These include chronic, complex, disabling and life limiting conditions.

· To demonstrate sound knowledge and skills in the management of paediatric neurological and developmental conditions, and behavioural and learning disabilities.

· To educate and train other healthcare and multi-agency professionals and physiotherapy students in paediatric physiotherapy management.

· To participate in the management of highly complex paediatric cases within a multi disciplinary team setting, under guidance as required.

· To work in the community as a lone practitioner in line with the Trust lone worker policy.

· To provide assessment for and provision of equipment for complex children in the community as a statutory duty.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. 

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. 

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. 

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

  • Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Member of HCPC

Experience

  • Experience working with children and/or experience of working within community settings

Skills

  • Experience in relevant settings in community / paediatrics
  • Ability to work alone as well as part of a team
  • Knowledge and practical experience of manual handling including paediatric equipment
  • Experience with computer based data system
