Job overview

We are seeking a highly motivated sonographer to work within our friendly ultrasound department. 

We are a forward thinking department, committed to training, encouraging and supporting personal development. We have a  lead sonographer in place across the  Trust to support the sonographers and help develop the ultrasound service.

We are a small, friendly department who are hoping to recruit a new member of staff to support out department.

Relocation packages can be discussed.

Main duties of the job

You will be a flexible team player with excellent communication skills and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be required to organise your workload according to demand, scanning inpatients, outpatients and GP referrals. We expect a high quality of patient care to maintain our efficient and cost effect service.

The Ultrasound department operates 7 day working. You will be expected to participate in the weekend and bank holiday rota. The service supports flexible working arrangements the majority of our team contribute to extended days through flexible contracts.

Although based at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, you will be required to provide cover at all Trust Sites as the service requires.


Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent in Radiography or other Science Based subject.
  • CASE accredited Ultrasound PGD
  • Evidence of CPD/PDP
Desirable criteria
  • Involvement in research/audit
  • HCPC Registered
  • Masters level post graduate Ultrasound training.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience across different ultrasound imaging techniques.
