Job overview

We are looking for one Fixed Term Specialty Doctors to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic team based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.  The post holder will undertake 10 PAs + 2PA's. On-calls will be at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, a level-two trauma centre, on a 1 in 10 non-resident basis.

They will work as part of our team delivering high quality Orthopaedic care.

Main duties of the job

The Lake District is quite probably the most beautiful region in England and not surprisingly the National Park is the most visited in the country. Holiday makers are attracted here by the stunning scenery, the wealth of leisure activities and the multitude of good places to eat and drink. But why holiday here when you could be living and working here?

Our Team consists of 15 Orthopaedic Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist, 7 middle-grade Speciality Doctors, 3 SPRs (ST3), 1 International Fellow, 2 CT’s, two foundation year 2 doctors and 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

Our strong ties with Lancaster University offer great opportunities to get involved with teaching medical students and with research. They will be supported in developing an appropriate Personal Development Plan and encouraged to work toward maximising their academic achievements. Recent post holders have worked towards their FRCS (Tr & Orth) exams whist in post.

We are therefore delighted to offer this exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Orthopaedic Doctor to take up a substantive role working in a highly successful, modern department delivering outstanding results in a breathtakingly beautiful part of England.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
