An opportunity as arisen at North Cumbria Integrated Care based at West Cumberland Hospital in the busy Catering Department This is a zero hour contract to cover existing staffs annual leave and sickness and will include some Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. The department is open from 7am - 7pm every day. There are various roles that need covered from working in the canteen, cafe, serving meals on the wards and working in the main kitchen. Full training will be given.
Main duties of the job
The job entails working in a busy work environment assisting with food preparation, taking temperatures, cleaning all crockery, disposing of waste, using industrial equipment, reporting faults and dealing with customer complaints. The successful applicant must have the ability to work alone and to work effectively as part of a team This is a large area to work in and is a physically demanding job and you will be on your feet for most of the shift and must be able to work in both hot and cold environments. The employee will also have the responsibility to follow all aspects of Food Safety, Allergen Laws and HACCP controls, this including the logging of hot and cold temperatures and that of fridges and freezers. Full flexibility is required with this role for the covering at short notice of annual leave and sickness.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:
Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
