Dietetic Assistant - 37.5 hours available, full time & part time considered
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 3 Dietetic Assistant to support the community and paediatric dietetic teams. Post will be based at the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven.
We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic applicants with good communication and team working skills. You must be able to demonstrate an interest in nutrition and an awareness of the nutritional issues related to diet and health.
Training will be provided, the training programme will include role specific competencies which will require evidence of being met. The dietetic team will provide support, assist with training needs and regular practice supervision.
Main duties of the job
Under the direction of the Community and Paediatric Dietitians the post holder will undertake clinical and administrative duties to support the Dietitians with the provision of appropriate nutrition for community and paediatric patients referred into the service. This will include reviewing progress with nutrition care plans either in person or by telephone to outpatients as well as ordering equipment and supplies for patients on tube feeds at home.
The post also includes a range of activities such as staff and patient education sessions, nutritional screening and conducting audits.
You will join an established team of 22 dietitians (acute, community & paediatrics).
Continuous personal development is given a high priority and there are ongoing educational opportunities. The department trains student dietitians on placements from Chester University, UCLan and Newcastle University. Dietetic assistants are expected to contribute to student training as part of their role.
IT and secretarial support is available.
