Exciting opportunities have arisen to be part of DCHS Integrated facilities Team (IFM) Bank.
We are actively recruiting Hotel Services Assistants -Porter into the following localities:
Whitworth Hospital - Matlock

Working within IFM service, you will become an active member of our team working closely with other disciplines and have the opportunity to work across our units and wards.
Previous experience is desirable, but not essential as full training is provided.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake a wide range of duties to include, movement of patients, moving and distribution of supplies, linen, mail, waste, specimens and furniture as required. Will be responsible for liaising with delivery drivers and directing delivery vehicles onto Trust sites. The cleaning of clinical and non-clinical areas. Liaise with other disciplines of staff. Carry out minor maintenance and PPM checks, reporting faults. Undertake on-site internal and external security checks. Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade as allocated by the manager.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We have bank opportunities in Porter roles; providing cover for staff absence and other emergencies on an "as and when" basis.
Patient Care: To undertake a wide range of Patient movement tasks, escorting Patients between wards and departments as instructed, using the assessed lift handling techniques and appropriate equipment. Delivery of Patient Food to and from ward and department, ensuring Food Safety practices are observed at all times. Front of house duties including directing patients/visitors to designated areas. To carry out movement and distribution of supplies, linen, specimens, furniture, provisions and cleaning products. Collection, transportation and disposal of all categories of waste in accordance with legislation, policy and local procedure, and completion of any waste transfer notes, as required. Collect, sort, distribute and frank mail. Liaising with delivery drivers and performing Banksman Duties to ensure the provision and maintenance of a safe area. Receipt, check and distribution of routine and ad hoc deliveries. Monitor, ordering and changing of medical gases as required and to liaise with supplier. Receipt and delivery of Pharmacy items including Controlled Drugs Sourcing of Patient Notes, Out-of-hours To undertake minor maintenance support, minor repairs and elements of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), together with routine checks and completion of Estates related records (after relevant training ) Participate in cleaning designated clinical and non clinical areas, routine or ad hoc, using the appropriate techniques and equipment in accordance with the work schedules and safety guidelines. Transportation of goods and equipment using Trust vehicles, cleaning maintenance of vehicles, carrying out simple maintenance checks, tasks and reporting of faults. Routine Internal and external security checks and setting/ un-setting of alarms for on-site premises with the occasional need to escalate to/ and liaise with the police. Compliance with specific fire procedure duties relevant to the role in the event of the fire alarm activation. As required to assist staff and funeral directors with deceased patients. Participate in the provision of creating and maintaining a safe working environment at all times, reporting faults and responding to potential hazards. Participate in the response to seasonal demands such as local on-site snow clearing, gritting as and when required during periods of adverse weather conditions. To abide by legislation, guidelines, protocol and/or procedure relevant to the work to be undertaken by the post-holder. Any other duties as deemed to be commensurate with the post to be agreed in consultation with post-holder. |
