Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a  full time 37.5hour a week vacancy as a Booking Co-ordinator working in the busy central booking team. 

The post holder will be required to provide excellent customer service to all service users ensuring that they are polite and courteous at all times.

Excellent organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure are essential requirements together with great attention to detail for ensuring data is recorded accurately onto the patient administration system to manage the booking of designated new and follow up clinics.

The post holders will be given full training to enable them to work in the booking team.

Start times flexible and will be confirmed at interview. 

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Booking Co-ordinator to cover services as part of the new partial booking system.

The Booking Co-ordinator will be responsible for providing a comprehensive, efficient and effective appointment booking service in order to meet the Trust’s patient waiting times, liaising closely with and responding to queries relating to appointments and activity from all stakeholders, providing support both internal and external to the Trust.

The successful candidate must be customer care focused, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with patients both face to face and over the telephone. As the role is within a busy booking team an ability to work under pressure is vital.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE passes including English at C or above or relevant administrative qualifications
  • Competent user of MS Word, Excel, Access. ECDL/M.O.S.T qualification
  • Possess a recognised typing qualification i.e. RSA II RSA III or equivalent or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Previous administrative experience and experience of working with the general public
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude for good customer service
  • Experience of working with a wide range of professionals.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS experience

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • A proven ability in proactively solving complex problems
  • Ability to suggest and implement new procedures
  • In depth knowledge of the 18 week RTT pathway and NHS Targets
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to cope under pressure, prioritising workloads and meet deadlines following tasks through to completion
  • Good concentration skills with attention to detail
