Job overview

We have a great opportunity for a part time Receptionist  in Antenatal Clinic within the  Maternity & Gynaecology Care Unit, Family Care Division, 15 hours per week.

The working  hours are  Monday - Friday 1pm - 4pm 

The Receptionists provide a professional clerical and co-ordination service to the outpatient departments, to ensure that patients receive a friendly, customer focused and efficient service

 

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will possess previous clerical experience, including VDU/keyboard skills, and have experience of using a telephone.  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work to deadlines are also essential requirements of this post.

This post involves receiving and handling information that is confidential and therefore the post holder must maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible for providing a friendly and personal checking in of patients and their families/carers, and managing their expectations at busy times.

Be mindful of and act within policy in terms of safeguarding.

Filing of reports and correspondence in patients’ case notes, in accordance with hospital procedures.

 Maintain patients’ case notes including updating and documenting any changes in patient details.

Reconciling clinics in line with timescales.

Undertake clerical duties associated with the discharge or transfer of patients from the Consultant care, any transport arrangements which may be required, booking follow up appointments and ensuring the safe return of case notes to the appropriate departments.

Answer telephones, receive and relay messages. Undertake ad hoc messenger duties as required.

To demonstrate a flexible approach to Department duties where appropriate.

Checking of stocks of stationery for the ward when required and relaying to necessary colleagues.

Be proactive in escalating any concerns of any kind to Line Management

Any other duties in the Care Unit, which may be delegated from time to time by the Assistant Service Manager or Care Unit Coordinator.

  • Educated to GCSE grade C or above standard including English & Maths (or equivalent)
