Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Children’s Hearing Services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital for us to offer a permanent Band 6 at 22.5hrs.

As an IQIPS accredited service we offer the opportunity to work within a highly skilled team and as a qualified audiologist offering you the opportunity to develop, extend your educational & clinical skills as well as participating in clinical audit allowing you to contribute to service development.

A dedicated team of 4 Paediatric Audiologists, 5 Clinical Scientists and 4 Newborn Hearing Screeners, working with Derbyshire Hearing Support (Education) Services,  Paediatric Consultant with special interest in aetiological investigations & the ENT Service.    Our service provides a range of routine and specialist services including newborn hearing diagnostics, hearing rehabilitation, tinnitus management and APD assessment.  Referrals from 0-16 years (19 for young people with complex needs). Clinics  at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and at Buxton Health Centre, therefore a car driver with a full current driving licence is essential for this role. (For disabled applicants’ suitable alternative arrangements may be agreed, if necessary).  You will need to be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients and our service users with respect and seeks to provide a high-quality service. 

Main duties of the job

Working as a member of the Children’s Hearing Service the post holder will provide age-appropriate audiological assessments & hearing aid provision/ follow up rehabilitation within the Paediatric Audiologist led service. This will include the provision of information, advice and emotional support to patients and their relatives/carers referred for investigation, diagnosis and treatment. 

You will need to have a BSc/MSc in Audiology (or equivalent) and will also need to be AHCS or HCPC registered. Previous experience in NHS Audiology at Band 5 level or above and evidence of ongoing continuing professional development are essential.
