Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our friendly and professional team within the Theatre Operating Department as a Theatre Receptionist . We provide care for emergency and elective patients across a range of specialities, these include General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, ENT, Maxillofacial, Breast, Urology and Ophthalmology.

To provide an important clerical role to the operating department, which supports the co-ordination and communication of timely admission to theatres. To ensure that all changes to theatre lists are reflected on the Ormis system. To liaise with multi-disciplinary teams and departments. To receive patients from the Day case and Inpatient admission areas and from across the Surgical wards.

Main duties of the job

  1. To receive and signpost all visitors to the Operating Department.
  2. To deal with enquiries courteously and efficiently.
  3. To provide administrative support for activity associated with the working of the Operating Department.
  4. To ensure theatre lists are updated on the Ormis system in a timely way, when changes or updates are made.
  5. To receive and relay messages throughout the department.
  6. Assist in routine office procedures, including the transportation of documentation, photocopying, filing and general clerical work.
  7. Maintain communication and liaise with other hospital departments and outside callers.
  8. Inputting patient data and other duties in relation to the trust and department computer systems as and when necessary. Ensuring information can be retrieved easily on request.
  9. Establish and maintain working relationships with other members of staff within the units to ensure efficient and smooth running of them.

We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent to include English & Maths at grades A-C (or equivalent)
