Job overview
An exciting opportunity to work as a Health Care Assistant in our evolving Medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) are has become available.
We have 2 positions- 30 hrs per week & 24 hrs per week
Chesterfield's Medical SDEC has recently relocated within the Trust to a new and renovated area. You will be working with a great team who are dedicated to the patients who attend the unit.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will assist qualified nursing staff with the provision of individualised nursing care. You will support the nursing team in the achievement of ward objectives and provide support to relatives/carers.

Qualifications & training
Essential criteria
- • Grade 4/GCSE D or above (or equivalent) in Maths & English
- • QCF level 2 Clinical Healthcare Support or willing to work towards and complete within 12 months or relevant experience
- • Care Certificate (or willing to work towards)
Desirable criteria
- • Health Related Training, First Aid, Moving & Handling, Food Handling
- • NVQ care qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Understands the need for confidentiality
- • Understands & committed to a caring approach to patients, relatives/carers
- • Experience or working in an acute medical setting for above 1 year
Desirable criteria
- • Experience working in a surgical/Medicine/emergency care setting.
- • Experience in a NHS/health care setting.
Skills & knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Able to demonstrate a caring approach to patients & relatives & works so that patients’ dignity & respect is maintained at all times.
- • Able to communicate routine information including observations effectively verbally & written to staff, patients/relatives.

- • Competent in venepuncture and cannulation
