Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for;

An opportunity has arisen for a HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join us in the Point of Care Team at the Chesterfield site of Derbyshire Pathology in a part-time permanent role; this will be for 22.5 hours per week. 

We have full UKAS ISO15189 accreditation and are also accredited with the IBMS as a training laboratory.

You would be working with the Point of Care Team helping to deliver technical excellence with enthusiasm, attention to detail and a professional, can-do attitude.

The Point of Care Team support a variety of testing and we welcome applications from Specialist Biomedical Scientist with a variety of discipline specific expertise.

The successful candidate will support the point of care team within the Trust and at Community Diagnostic Centres across North Derbyshire therefore the ability to travel to community sites is required. 

The ability to work autonomously is essential as is a flexible approach to working to ensure that the service needs are met.

The role involves but is not limited to the following:

  • Performing validation/verification of new equipment and compiling verification data
  • Training of POC team members and POC users
  • Support connectivity testing and maintenance
  • Monitoring of reagent and consumable stocks
  • Maintenance of equipment
  • Service development inclusive of quality management activities and projects.
  • Effective communication and team working.
  • Experience of using our current equipment (GEM5000, ID Now, Abbott Freestyle Precision Pro) and software (Q-Pulse, AegisPOC, GemWeb and WinPath Enterprise) would be an advantage but full training will be given.
