Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the speech and language therapy service, supporting administrative and clerical processes across the acute hospital and outpatient setting.
This position in as an integral and valued role amongst a team of approximately 30 speech and language therapists.
Main duties of the job
To provide a professional administrative support service to the DCHS SLT managers/team leaders and staff.
To enable speech and language therapists to deliver an effective clinical service to SLT caseloads by providing efficient administrative and secretarial support.
To maintain an efficient and effective service of staffing information, maintain confidentiality of clinical and staffing information and communicate well with service providers and users at all levels.
We are looking for someone with an understanding of clinical record systems , who is keen to work in an acute environment.
You will be someone who has drive, new ideas and is keen to improve and develop current systems to ensure better patient care and to support Speech and Language therapist's in the acute hospital setting.
Strong communication skills are imperative to this role.
You will have a commitment to providing a high standard of patient-focused care and be a strong team player.

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- English Language qualification (for example GCSE or equivalent)
- NVQ3/RSA III/OCR3/ECDL Advanced or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- CLAIT or equivalent
- Word-processing certificate
Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of providing secretarial/admin support services
- Previous NHS experience
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of speech and language therapy
- Previous experience working in a hospital setting
Skills and Attributes
Essential criteria
- Able to communicate with the public and professionals at all levels
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively, at times working to tight deadlines
- Excellent IT skills using Microsoft Office programmes & Excel
- Excellent telephone skills
