Job overview

We are a large and dynamic Speech and Language Therapy service of around 100 staff, working across all service areas in Derbyshire. 

This  exciting opportunity has arisen in the children's team  and we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced speech and language therapist with specialist skills in paediatric deafness to cover the Derbyshire county deafness caseload. 

The role would be combined with a Derby city community caseload providing a clinical service to children and young people with a range of  communication difficulties in a variety of settings, including education settings, nurseries, clinics and clients’ homes (caseload numbers will be adjusted as needed). 

For the first 12 month of the role the successful candidate will cover the maternity leave of the therapist who delivers input to the Derby City deafness caseload instead of a community caseload. 

 

 

Main duties of the job

All our therapists work with children who have  a wide range of speech, language, communication and eating and drinking needs.  The specialist area of interest for this post is in paediatric deafness. You will need to have post graduate experience of  working with deaf children and young people.

You will  be  a HCPC registered and be mobile between locations.

They will be proficient in their abilities to deliver high-quality, evidence-based practice, with a proven ability to provide leadership and support within an SLT service.

You will work alongside a friendly team of SLTs, SLPs and SLTAs, with line management support from an SLT team leader, as well as having access to clinical supervision and relevant CPD opportunities.

You will have a commitment to providing a high standard of patient-focused care and be a strong team player.

Essential criteria
  • HCPC registered
  • Post graduate training/experience in paediatric deafness
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of relevant CEN
  • BSL qualification

Experience and Knowledge

  • Relevant experience post reg
  • Post qualification as an SLT
  • In depth knowledge of appropriate assessment and therapeutic interventions for the role
