Trosolwg o'r swydd

The Kedleston Unit is a twenty bedded, male Low Secure Unit based on the Kingsway Hospital Site in Derby. The Kedleston Unit delivers intensive, comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment and care for patients who have demonstrated disturbed and offending behaviours in the context of a serious mental disorder and who's risks require the provision of security.

The Kedleston Unit aims to provide the highest standard of care and treatment to patients with mental health problems who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 in a dedicated gender specific environment.

The Kedleston Unit comprises of two wards: Curzon Ward which has 8 beds and Scarsdale Ward which has 12 beds.  Curzon Ward functions as a low secure admission and treatment ward.  Scarsdale Ward functions as a low secure rehabilitation ward.

We are inviting applications with a passion for nursing patients, providing treatment to people with acute mental ill health, with more complex needs including those with offending histories. Complying with security is imperative within this service, this includes physical and relational security. 

We would welcome applications from people who feel they have the qualities to work in this demanding environment.

Care is delivered as part of a multi professional team in an innovative way to meet individual needs. The successful applicant will be supported into an established team and receive regular supervision, training and development.

Kingsway Hospital offers a scenic restful environment and is situated near to the A38 transport link and is 10 minutes bus ride from Derby City Centre. Free parking is available for staff who works at Kingsway.

NVQ 3 in Health & Social care (or nearly completed) or the equivalent relevant experience is an essential requirement for this post. Please clearly evidence this in your application.

The post holder will work over a 24 hour period under supervision of qualified nurses to provide effective and high quality person-centred care to service users, being accountable/responsible for the reporting of actions to qualified nursing staff.  The post holder will be actively involved in direct patient care.  The post holder will undertake, training as required both within the ward and on agreed study days.
