Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Splint Workshop team for a Therapy Receptionist / admin support at the Royal Derby Hospital. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our small but dedicated reception team.  

This is a full time post but job shares and part time hours would be considered. The successful post holder will be expected to work flexibly to cover colleagues in times of sickness and annual leave.

If you consider you can fulfil the following criteria you may be interested in joining our Reception team.

  • Good level of education and have experience in Administration and Clerical duties with good keyboard skills
  • Ability to work in a calm, logical and methodical way but be able to multi-task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills including face to face contact with the general public
  • Experience of working on in a busy reception environment
  • Ability to exercise initiative and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism whilst being aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity
  • Ability to absorb and process complex, detailed outpatient clinic and patient information
  • Ability to remain calm and work well under pressure, whilst having the ability to carry out a wide variety of tasks
  • Previous experience of working in an outpatient department within an NHS setting is preferred.

 

Main duties of the job

As an Outpatient Receptionist your main responsibilities will be to provide a friendly, welcoming and professional first point of contact, on the telephone and in person, to patients and a range of health care professionals.  Reception duties will be complex and varied. They include welcoming and booking patients into clinics, booking appointments, dealing with enquiries, input data on to Trust computer systems as well as other clerical duties required to support the efficient and effective running of the Therapies department.  Full training will be provided.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Maths & English GCSE Grade C or above
  • Experience working in a reception environment
  • Previous customer care experience
  • Recent knowledge and understanding of admin procedures.
  • Understanding of the 18 week RTT process
Desirable criteria
  • Have experience in a hospital setting or similar role
  • Knowledge of the patient Access Policy
