Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Cytology Department.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Science Assistant to work at UHDB based at the Royal Derby Hospital. 

The ability to work in a team is crucial as well as being able to work accurately and independently.

This is a fixed term role / secondment ending 30/06/2026.

Main duties of the job

The post involves:

  • Specimen receipt and processing using automated systems,
  • HPV testing,
  • Entering patient details and requested tests into the pathology computer system
  • Slide filing,
  • Laboratory duties 
  • Handling general telephone enquiries
