Job overview

We are looking for a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner to join our forward thinking and friendly dietetic team.   This is a new role within the team.

You will be responsible for providing part of the Dietetic Service in the acute hospital setting along with the team of dietitians.

You will be provided with regular supervision and CPD opportunities in order to develop your clinical skills.  We are committed to improving our patient experience and clinical pathways and there will be opportunities to be involved with both current and new projects within the team.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for a patient caseload under the supervision of a Registered dietitian
  • Liaise with members of the MDT regarding the nutritional care of patients on your caseload
  • Provide nutrition education to other healthcare staff

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Foundation degree (Nutrition Related) or equivalent Diploma/ NVQ 3 plus level
  • Nutrition knowledge
Desirable criteria
  • British Dietetic Association modules for Dietetic support workers/ Dietetic assistants

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of dealing with people with nutrition related issues in a caring capacity (in a healthcare environment)
  • Experience of working as a dietetic assistant
Desirable criteria
  • Worked with in the NHS in acute setting

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of CPD activities

Skills

  • Evidence of good communication skills - written and verbal
